GC on Sweeping Strikes and Bladestorm

We’re trying to fix the interaction between Sweeping Strikes and Bladestorm. The purpose of Sweeping Strikes is to let your attacks hit more targets, not hit the targets you are already hitting harder.

Bladestorm should not be able to use Sweeping Strikes to transfer all that damage to a single target. As I said above, the purpose of Sweeping Strikes is to hit *additional* targets not just cause more damage to existing targets. I believe Whirlwind works with Sweeping Strikes correctly, so we’d like to get Bladestorm to work the same way.

This change will then let us see if any of the concern about Bladestorm in PvP is founded or if it’s not an issue without Sweeping Strikes inflating the damage.

We don’t think this will be a real nerf to PvE Arms warriors, but if it chills out their AE damage in those very specific situations where there are several closely grouped adds and Arms damage skyrockets, then I agree that’s a good thing.

Technically it should hit the same target each time if nobody moves, but we know that is a fairly rare scenario. For the most part it is random, it won’t be smart and alternate targets or anything like that.

Note: We are working on the hotfix for this right now.

We are in fact keeping the interaction. SS will still be worth hitting when Bladestorm is up. What it will not do is hit one target 4 (or in some cases even more) times. The stand alone ability Whirlwind had this bullet-proofing as part of the spell, but the new whirlwinds created as part of Bladestorm did not. We think this is one of the main causes of the “Bladestorm blowed me up” feedback.

If you ask me, Blizzard would be perfectly happy to have all PvE Warriors as Tanks and not DPS.

Warriors seem to be one of the Classic Classes that is so inflexible that they are pretty much only intended to serve as one role.

I can even see them (Blizzard) moving towards disabling/removing the ability for Warrior to dual-wield, except with Titan’s Grip… even have Warriors be the first ever Class to be removed from the game.

I blame the Death Knight inception for the demise of the Warrior; who realistically goes out of their way to roll a DPS Warrior, these days, when a mana-using Class will always out DPS a Warrior to get to L55, then you can roll a Death Knight is you ‘really’ want a Plate DPS Class…?

Yes; I have Warrior as a main; have had for close on 2 years, and have only ever DPS’d — if Tanking was made a ‘bigger deal’ of, then I might know about the skill of Tanking & may be able to more readily adapt to the role – as it isn’t, well…

First off, this is a game and is intended to be enjoyed. Now, having a warrior tank as my first and highest level character, I think that playing a warrior has to be one of the most difficult and challenging characters to play. As a tank, you have to try and keep aggro when there are ppl doing 5k+ DPS, and as a DPS role you have to try and stay above 2k+ DPS or you suck. Tanks should be one of the most feared characters to PvP because of their damage mitigation and high health. Instead, they are nothing more than a dummy to beat on (just takes longer because of these attributes). As a DPS in PvP they are unable to hold a candle to others (hunter, mage, etc.). So why even play one do you ask? Because when you can PvP with your warrior and still compete with others, while the whole time being the main focus of raids and heroics, it says a lot about your ability to play the game and create epic characters. Don’t get me wrong, I wish there were more AoE skills for keeping aggro but we do with what we got. I hope this makes the rest of the warrior world feel better about themselves. It takes a special person to play a warrior.

Bladestorm is one of the few things we can do to level the playing field against other people in pvp. As it stands our DPS is usually fairly sad compared to other jobs and now there are other jobs that can tank more capably than Warriors can. Warrior religiously gets the short end of the stick on updates. Keep nerfing the job and people are just going to stop playing it.

I play a holy pally and rogue in pvp , i dont want to qq or something ,my rogue and my arena partner(resto druid) always lose against warriors cuz when i go toe to toe i go down like im 20lvls lower or something i dont know much about warriors but bladestorm is pretty insane ,on my pally however i can survive for quite a while so i think you should just face your class has a disadvantage against some classes
