Nibelung Hotfix

We are currently in the process of applying two hotfix improvements to the Nibelung staff. The first change is that we are improving the chance for a val’kyr to proc from 1% to 2%. While this may not seem like a significant improvement, it will be notable and result in the val’kyr appearing more often.
The second change is that anytime a summoned val’kyr casts her smite spell, she will heal herself for 25% of the damage done. This will help keep them alive when AoE damage is happening but not make them invincible as we still want them to feel like a summoned creature and not a special form of a DoT spell that has awesome art.
We understand the frustrations players have had with this weapon so far. We currently plan to make more proc weapons in the future and are committed to making this and other proc weapons fun and competitive items.

what about arcane mages? if this procs can come off of all affl lock dots i would think it could proc off arcame missles, come on i want to use this staff!!! good changes so far, but make one more so arcane can use it also!

Well, i think it does proc off AM atm. I know i’ve seen it proc of the last missile, but it still feels a bit on the low side for an arcane mage (we have a shadow priest in raid with us, and his procs are almost double mine).

well ive personally never seen it proc from a arcane missle, so what your saying could be true, im not saying its not but i play a lot, either way needs to be alterd!

I got this my first time into ICC 25 as a PUG member in a guild raid on my server and have loved it ever since. As a Moonkin I find the extra damage a great asset for the saurfang fight since I’m always either going after a blood beast or setting up for the next wave of them. The first fight with Saurfang on 25 mode I got 3 out at one time! And this was before the increased proc rate!

Well, Ive had the weapon throughout the Hotfix. It seems as if I go on a spamming fit I might be able to get one to two out at a time but rarely is it a constant up-time. Total damage that each one does for me personally is in the neighborhood of 27K damage pending a target is there for them to hit at the moment. Most of my high casting fights in ICC I’m only gaining the pet 4 times at most. Most fights pet damage accrued for about 100K give or take. So you have to ask yourself if the pet proc and added spellpower is worth the loss of stats you could gain over the other staffs or MH/OH combos found in ICC? Its I-lvl is 264. I’d say it feels more like a 245/251ish level of damage. Its almost a side-grade to using Abracadaver. Just a thought…I can understand leaving the proc rate “as is.” Prehaps you could up the damage from the pet significantly or provide a small amount of stats to the weapon; appx. same amount of haste/crit from a main hand?
