As some of you may already be aware, we will not be renewing the World of Warcraft: The Trading Card Game license with Upper Deck. We want to assure you that we are committed to supporting the TCG, and players can look forward to new content and strong organized play support in the near future. We will share additional details about the game’s transition to a new partner as soon as possible. For those awaiting tournament prizes, we will ensure you receive them.

UD is and always will first and foremost be a sports card company. Honestly, I feel that Blizzard should never have contracted them in the first place for a TCG. I am glad, however to see that they are working on continuing the game and moving toward acquiring a new publisher. Hopefully they will pick one that will treat the game, and it’s followers with a bit more respect.

I was an avid player of the game up until shortly after FoO came out. Stopped because work and financial changes kept me from having the time and money to stay competitive. I did keep up with the game though by reading different websites. It’s been declining for some time now, the way I understand it, and that had a lot to do with UD’s treatment of the game. I heard a lot of complaints about the service and the amount of time it took them to get stuff out like points store orders and the like. It is mentioned in the post that they are committed to getting out new content so I’m sure they’re going to pick someone up very quickly if they haven’t already. It just seems to me that UD’s service wasn’t up to Blizzard standards.

They clearly said they will be continuing the game, and I would assume they will find a contract with another company ASAP. Shouldn’t be a big deal, but people who have points with Upper Deck would be wise to spend them ASAP before they probably go void.
Hot debate. What do you think?
