I experienced a madness when i logged for raid today. Everyone was talking about Celestial Steed, and i must admit, they look AWESOME! I feel kinda bad cause i forgot to screenshot that swarm of Celestials on Krasus’ Landing, but judging by the Queue in online shops, I’m pretty sure you’re going to see the same thing soon enough, if you haven’t already
A bit expensive, but hey… it’s pretty ^^
We’re pleased to be able to bring two new additions to the Blizzard Pet Store: the miniature robot Lil’ XT and the Celestial Steed, the first mount to be available there. These fun options are available exclusively through the online Blizzard Store. [http://www.blizzard.com/store]

The mount is awesome because it evolves with the character and can be used anywhere, by all chars in your account, and I would buy it right now if it did not look like a Barbie pegasus… My suggestion is to offer two skin choices at the purchase – the current one and a darker option – someone could not buy the 2 skins for a single account, having to choose just one. Even if Blizz does not give a cent for people’s personal taste, that would at least make sales higher. This is the general opinion of players in the 2 realms I play on (except of course those few who bought the mount).

Celestial Steed (and Horseman’s Reigns) are effectively 5 mounts. It simply ‘smart casts’ the correct one for the zone and your skill level. So if you mount up in a ‘no-fly’ zone, you have to recast to get the correct mount in a new zone.

Keep in mind that the Celestial Steed isn’t an ‘original’ design, it is a re-skin of Invincible, the uber-rare mount that drops off of Arthas in heroic mode. (And in my opinion, Invincible looks way, way cooler :p)
I don’t mind Blizz selling ‘toys’ like this, the Collector’s Editions come with vanity pets availble nowhere else, when you attend Blizzcon or other promotional events, you can get pets and mounts, plus the TCG game has had dozens of toys, pets and mounts, some original, some recolors.
All of those distribution models lack something that the Blizzard store fills the gap for. ANYONE now can buy special mounts and pets without needing to attend a physical event, or purchasing from a potentially sketchy 3rd party seller.
Another benefit (yes, benefit) is that Blizzard gets this money directly, encouraging them to devote more time to other vanity items and graphical improvments, based on the users who voted for it with thier money by purchasing things like this.
My personal opinion on the steed itself, is the model seems a little smallish with most toons, and the wings fold up funny when on the ground, but as a totally optional toy, the fact it exists is nice, knowing you always have the option.

Get over yourselves and stop crying just cause your mommy wont buy this mount for you.
1) Selling mounts and/or pets doesnt lower the value of the ones earned in game.
2) Half of what makes a mount “cool” is what you do to earn it. Violet Proto-Drake isnt really that cool. You just log in at the right time, do some easy quests, and BOOM you got yourself a 310% mount. Rusted Proto-Drake however, is an awesome mount because you actually had to do something to earn it. They are the same model with different textures.
3) Coolest mount is still the Pheonix so stop crying.
4) How is spending money different from farming a .2% drop rate mount? Both rely on you have a limited resource. Rich people have the money to buy mounts and kids who live in their mothers basement have the time to farm mounts.
Hot debate. What do you think?

I like the mount but it makes me wonder if blizz will take advantage of this since so many people bought the mount if they will make more and sell them and if they do money will be able to get the coolest mounts in the game and that isnt cool at all

A lot of people have criticized the mount as you do purchase it with cash instead of traditionally earning it with an achievement or purchasing it with an in-game currency such as gold or emblems.
But, there are a couple huge benefits to this mount as well!
First, when you purchase it, ALL of your characters get the mount via in-game mail! Got a level 80 toon? He gets the mount! Got a level 1 toon? He ALSO gets the mount! Got 10 characters? THEY ALL GET THE MOUNT! So, if you decide to purchase this mount, you will only need to get one of them, unless you feel generous and want to buy one for a friend! You can buy up to 10 of these mounts in a single transaction. When redeeming the mounts, you can “Gift” them to other WoW accounts as long as you know the login email addresses of the people you want to send the mounts to. For instance, I bought 2 of the mounts, one for myself and one for my Wife.
The other benefit? Well, the mount scales to your riding level! Once you hit level 20, you can use this mount as the normal riding mount as soon as you learn the Apprentice Riding skill. Then, once your character hits level 40 and you learn the Journeyman Riding skill, the mount automatically becomes an Epic mount! This means that you do not need to purchase a second mount like you had to before! Same goes with flying…once you reach level 60 and learn the Expert Flying skill then this mount will serve as either a ground mount or a flying mount, depending on where you jump on it! Same goes for the Artisan Flying skill as well as the Cold Weather Flying skill. And oh, by the way, if you ALREADY OWN a mount that flies at 310%, then the Celestial Steed WILL ALSO FLY at 310%!!! If you do not have a 310% mount though, the Celestial Steed will only fly at 280% UNTIL YOU OBTAIN A 310% mount….at that time, your Celestial Steed will become a 310% mount as well!
You can use this mount anywhere in the game that you are able to mount up…no mounting inside just as it has always been. Much like the Headless Horseman’s Reins, the mount will either run or fly depending on the Zone you are in. This is not a bug as stated in a negative comment above. This is simply to allow you to use the mount anywhere in game.
Hope this helps clear up some confusion!

The wait timer is the estimated time it should take, but not how long it actually will. Mine was at 10 hours when I joined the queue but I was checked out in an hour at most.

The mount has been met with praise and dissent, yet personally if Blizzard wants to offer a mount for actual currency, it is their prerogative.
It is very pretty.
