A great guide to successful PUG was posted a while ago on European forums and we think it deserves some more publicity:
Good day all
I’ve decided to make this thread in response to all the complaining about PUG’s and about heroics, and they being to difficult.
This thread is directed to people who PUG a group instead of doing a Guild run or something similar but these tips can help with Guilds also.
Now a few good things for a successful PUG is
A: COMMUNICATION is key! When you join a group start to say Good Morning/Evening or hello. It is nice to be nice those will begin to get people more inclined to have a conversation which helps allot in discussing tactics or helping with people who may need help understanding a mechanic.
It could be there first time here after all.
B:Don’t rush in to specific trash or a boss make sure everyone is ready you have ready check that helps allot. Check if people are aware of the mechanics of said boss do not just rush in and die then blame someone for not dispelling a Debuff they may have not known about.
C: CC (Crowd Control) If you can CC please do it takes no longer to CC a mob than to not CC a mob it helps with the general damage your PUG takes and makes the trash generally a more relaxed form of progressing from Boss to Boss.
D: If someone makes a mistake do not shout at them just say Hey i noticed that we died there because of that add/mob over there does a magic debuff that tic 20,000 damage per second that should be dispelled where you aware that the boss/mob did that?.
This way the conversation is more positive and Relaxed to the point where its just a mistake not the end of the world, and once again you are communicating and the Healer/Tank or Dps are aware of it and will know that it should be done next.
Remember you are a TEAM [Not a one man band] working together is the KEY TO SUCCESS in a heroic or any dungeon for that matter.
If you can live by these rules and I hope the others within your group can. Then your experience within a Heroic will be more positive, more fun and mostly now that you are working as a TEAM and communicating, you will rarely find a dungeon that is too difficult to succeed in.
