What are your hopes for the next hero class?

personally I would like to see a pikeman/spartan class- melee dps, sheilds, low to moderate armor, holding sheild in one hand and polearm in other.

-or-

a ranged weapon specific class that can use ranged at close quarters and long distance, with no pet or helper other than armor/gear.

I'd also like to see a medic that uses bandges with no cooldowns and has injections to remove curse/poisons but limited to mostly single target.

my best wow friend would like to see a battle mage that has instant cast burst damage to weapons- one hit frost weapon ext.

thoughts?

ur ideas are fine... but non-sensible, A) a polearm is 2 hd so cant carry with shield... and if u specd for it still wouldnt be very great because polearms would be a dps weapon not a tanking weapon and a shield has no benefits for a dps
B)a ranged dps tht fights close or long ranged is useless... if he is close range and attacking he will be fast mowed down, even with plate armour, tht is why hunters and mages and locks all have pets and spells to slow enemies, because they wouldn't last long with mobs on them
C) ur medic class basically describes a field medic from starcraft or something... this is wow, don't know if u have noticed, but it isnt taking place anywhere near our era of time and even if blizz made a medic class it would be quickly thrown aside for a priest, shammy, pally or druid, because it would have to be close range, and you would need ur own mats to even heal, plus there would be no solo abilities so u would be unable to level.....
i think if blizz releases a new hero class (which they should not) it should be based on the newest foe (ex. DK's based on LK) and with ragnaros as newest main foe it would make sense to have a class that were followers of ragnaros such as an elemental class... like a mage but no arcane, fire earth water or air specs (3 of the 4) and fights with both melee abilities and spells (ex. fire elemental draenei that casts fireball until mob nears then switches to attacking using a meteor smash ability which needs ability points stacked like a rogue or feral druid and causes 250% weapon damage + 50% weapon damage over 12 seconds)
(yeah my idea is dumb, but popped in my mind while i criticized yours, feel free to berate mine back)

If you don't like someone's ideas, just explain why you think they have issues. You don't have to say they're stupid.

I think you're on to something when you mention basing the Hero Class off of the expansion. Your idea sparked the following ideas for me:

1. Dragonslayer or Dragonborne or Dragonkind - a human that has some dragon blood in their system. Probably from when a god-dragon took human form and mated with a human. They could be a melee class with some spell-like powers and have a runic or inner core cool down like DKs. They should have some elemental or environmental weakness like problems underground or vs. opposite elemental powers.

2. Tengu - human/bird demon. This is based off of some Japanese mythology about humans who take bird form or vice versa. I thought the Forsaken that enter the battle in the preview video might be from this line, but I'm not sure (check out the video on Blizzards Video Preview page on the WRATHGATE http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath/wrathgate.xml ) to see what I mean on the Forsaken.

Other ideas I had:

3. Psionic Warrior - Similar to the original D&D rules where there were characters who were like Mind Flayers - they had mind powers to attack, stun, confuse, control, etc... make them very weak melee (even worse than mages) but have levitation and other spells-like mind powers.

I don't know past that. Its hard to come up with a uniqe thing because the game does have alot of things right now. For example, you think Ranger or Beast Master and the hunter does that. Think assassin or acrobat and rogues do that too. I was thinking of Illusionist or Sorcerer, but I'm not sure what would make them so different than mages / warlocks.

Keep up this discussion its a good idea.

A Geomancer would be cool as a hero class though the general aspect of there abilities may be limited, set it to were they can the energy from the environment that they are in at that point in time enhances what they can do. corse for the most part they would only beable to use either earth or water bound spells, IE earthquake or tsunami.

I would like to see a class that uses the almost ignored Polearm and Fist weapons... I beleive a Chinese Monk style hero class with an emphasis on spiritual weapon combat would fill a niche that has been absent from the game. Special combat abilities that take shape as you evolve your character with a chosen weapon path. Id suggest the following:

Spec one: Kata spec - Specialty in using polarms(a bonus in the tree like warriors) that cause a variety of results from AoE damage to perhaps multiple immobilizations ie: a mass cyclone(druid), perhaps a mass mana regen manuver similar to Hymn of hope. the focus being on wide AoE and multiple mob attacks.

Spec Two: Fighting spec - (Main DPS spec) Focuses on Single target High damage/ rapid hit attacks, ie: a channeled "fists of fury" style manuver. (Fist weapons recieve a bonus here) who's combat mechanics involve landing attaacks in a rotationary order to activate higher yeild DPS moves. (Combo's like a rogue or Feral Cat) that have a martial arts style theme to them.

Spec Three: Spiritualist - Healing spec- a healing tree is usually self explanitory but its unique nature will come from combining the poowers of the "soul"(priests) with strength drawn from the "ancestors" (like a shaman)

That's some OK suggestions but i don't think they would "fit in" you know...
I would really like to see a Demon Hunter in play though, starting at 55 like DK? maybe...
But he would be a melee focused class...wearing leather the difficult part would lie in not making them look like rogues, so they should maybe be mana users? Primarely they would be dual wielding, maybe they would be best with swords and axes, if you should avoid looking like rogues, they could be given some heavy 2-H glaive like blades? i dunno.
Three talent speccs would consist of two DPS speccs: one for levelling, and then a Main DPS specc and couldn't i be cool if he was able to tank two only wearing leather and relying on his dogde and parry?

Then i would like a healer Hero class. (DK was tanking and DPS)
I dunno how he should work... maybe a rune healer (not class name) that would use some of the princips around DK's with those 6 runes of different elements... Only in this their might only be 4 or so... something with the light and the nature... mix of Druid/shammy and Priest/pally?

I agree with the idea that the next hero Class should be based on the expansion it comes with, if that new class would be based on Fire Elementals then i think it should have a Fire Aura (Fire Damage to enemies in melee range) and maybe also a several seconds lasting Fire Shield (reflects part of the damage taken to the attacker in the form of Fire Damage) ?

I also agree with the idea that the next Hero Class should have a healing spec, maybe based on Voodoo? Wait...that sounds like a Shadow Priest that heals instead of dealing damage...or a Warlock with a healing spec...scratch the Voodoo-healer...

The Psionic Warrior doesn't sound that bad but might be a bit Starcraftish, mainly because of the name, with a different name it has more potential and could even have a healingspec.

That class already exists. it's a shadow priest.
